Graupel :New word of the day

La Conner in Washington state

Miles and miles of tulips: Some for cutting bouquets and some for the bulbs to plant.

Big tourist attraction all over Washington State

Beautiful, aren't they?

See the foothills in the background.

Decided I needed to look back on the memories of only two weeks ago on our road trip across the border to La Conner in Washington State. It was a beautiful sunny day with warm temperatures. As I write this, I had plans to work outside clearing out my garden beds in the back yard. But we have had cold, wet and overcast with periodic showers of graupel. What is that you ask? Well it isn't exactly hail. It is ice-encrusted snow that looks like hail. You have all experienced it. It is a kind of snow that is super-cooled by the moisture in the air. It isn't staying on the ground, but it doesn't look much like Spring either. So enjoy the views above. The weekend is supposed to be much better.
