Saturday update
This is just a short note to let you know the results of the biopsy came in. The Advagraf (an anti-rejection drug) built up in his system to dangerous levels which caused platelets to "band together" to stop the flow of blood from the renal artery into the kidney. They stopped the Advagraf immediately and hooked up a slow IV to flush out his system. They have to be careful that the fluid does not gather in his lungs or too much in his legs. The creatinine levels are coming down. They are still higher than the levels that sent him to hospital, but they are coming down. The biopsy has basically confirmed that they are on the right course of action. He will remain in hospital for a few days.

Goodness gracious. I hope everything continues to improve and that he is well monitored. It must be a relief for you to know what is wrong and seeing his response to the course of action. I'll keep you guys in my thoughts, Susan. Many hugs to you both. Be careful on the roads and take care of yourself too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nathalie.
DeleteThank you for the update, Susan. Glad they were able to figure out what was wrong and they are taking steps to address it. At least he's where they can monitor him and he can receive the care he needs. Hope you are feeling better, too, and yes, please do be careful when driving on those icy roads. Will continue to keep you both in my prayers. How is your older son doing with his treatment?
ReplyDeleteI am hoping they stay on top of things and are not in too much of a hurry to discharge him.
DeleteMy older son is still doing his peritoneal dialysis treatments manually about 3 times a day. It should be much easier on him when he can start using the machine at night while he sleeps.
I'm glad that you have some answers and that the doctors seem to be on the right track. I hope that you had a nice Sunday and got in some good rest!
ReplyDeleteI went in yesterday to be with him in hospital. I waited until today to take a "day off" and try to get some rest. They are preparing to do some more testing on him this week.
